Sweet Soul Night 3-06-10
It was a night of powerful Soul and Funk with Austin Church sitting in for Sybil and dropping jams on us like we were right back to the original era of true music. We heard greats like Marvin Gaye, Johnny Adams, The Lost Generation and Sam Cooke just to name a few. We also slipped in a few rare videos on the Stormy Monday Youtube Channel for you to groove on while you we're listening to the show.
If you'd really like to know about Soul music then Sybil suggests our friend Reg Stickings phenomenal book Searching for Soul which shows the depth and breath of this wonderful genre as well as Reg's own love for it. (And check out the CD of old classics below. It's not Reg's collection [his is MUCH larger] but it sounds fantastic.)
Our sponsor this week was Soups and Stews by Lea in beautiful Cocoa Village, Florida.
Podcast produce in conjunction with The Practical Cafe for Sybil's Practical Social Media Solutions.
